ABOUT
Joseph “F is for Francis” Conway was born in Concord, Massachusetts, the youngest of eight children. He left New England to attend Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, earning a degree in literature (cum laude/Phi Beta Kappa). Following graduation he biked, surfed, skied and cooked his way through the West before settling in the “other” Portland — Maine.
Joseph began his freelance career in 2008 while relaunching the UK-based magazine Drift Surfing for Polestar Publishing. He has since worked for ESPN, GOOD Magazine, Converse, CBS MoneyWatch, Dow Jones and various private corporate clients. His passion for the outdoors, arts, music and food lends a cultural fluency and weight to his copy and journalism. He is a sought-after authority on emerging culture and has been featured in national and international lifestyle and design publications.
Joseph lives in Portland’s West End with his wife Jenny and their moose-sized black and tan hound named Point Reyes.
